1.It is a good idea to decide whether you want a computerized or manual sewing machine. The major difference between computerized sewing machines and manual sewing machines is that the computerized machines select the stitch width and length for you making it easier to get sewing.

Untrue to some belief, computerized machines do not break more easily. It is only computerized stitch selection so it is just as easy to break the knob on the manual machine as it is to break a computerized machine.

2. You should decide what type of sewing you will be doing a majority of the time. Sewing machine manufacturers sell machines for fashion sewing, quilting and embroidery.
